The Home Stretch

Since we're in the last 72 hours, we thought we'd take the opportunity to update the Stretch Goals.

In other news, Richard Pearce interviewed us for his Yet Another Traveller Blog.  Check it out here:

It's been an exciting 27 days, and we can't wait to see what the final three will bring!

Happy New Year to everyone!

A few weeks ago, Jeff Beck of Your Table's On Fire interviewed us for his game design themed podcast.  If you'd like to listen, here's the link:

A Choice for the Community on Stretch Goals
almost 8 years ago – Fri, Dec 30, 2016 at 10:30:01 PM

Thanks to your support, we have crossed our initial funding goal. We have some minor Stretch Goals planned up to the 42.5k mark, but if we are fortunate enough to reach 45k, we’d like to offer new Ship Decks.

However, there is a trade off.

New Ship Decks will very likely mean pushing overall fulfillment back to August or perhaps even September. This is primarily due to the increase in the number of individual art pieces we have to commission and get approved by Far Future Enterprises.

We would do everything we could to reduce the time required, but we’re planners, not wizards. More stuff means more work, which likely means more time. We’re aware that many otherwise successful projects run into difficulties because of Stretch Goals. That’s why we are bringing this option to the community.

If you would support adding new Ship Decks at 45k, please comment YES to this Update. If you oppose the idea, comment NO. We will only consider the YES option if there is a clear expression from the community, which would be at least 60% of votes cast in favor.

  • Which Ship Decks?

The Empress Marava Far Trader and the Type R Subsidized Merchant

  • Why Those?

They are the most developed of the next Ship Decks.  Also, while they do add their own mechanics, they also rely upon and further develop themes from the Free Trader and the Scout.

  • Why are new Ship Decks a good thing?

Increasing the available ships and expanding the overall card pool will lead to a more dynamic play environment.

  • Why would there have to be a delay?  Couldn't you do the initial Ship Decks first, then do the Stretch Goal decks?

Paying twice for freight from the manufacturer to us, or for shipping twice to individual backers would be prohibitively expensive, and trying to manage that process multiple times would be a logistical nightmare.  No KS project ships more than once unless that is the only solution, and we're no different.

We need your feedback!  Please take a moment to vote on our proposal by commenting either Yes or No to this update.

To maintain clarity, we ask any general discussion on this question take place in the Comments section of the main campaign page.

Thank You!

Example of Play, Part 2: Game Play Demo Video
almost 8 years ago – Wed, Dec 28, 2016 at 05:09:41 PM

We said we'd release a Demonstration of Play video, so here it is.  Kickstarter has a size requirement of 250 MB on videos (other than the initial campaign video), so we had to compress it a bit and edit it to the bone, but we figured our backers would find those a fair trade for more game play details.
